The Geberit story dates back to 1874, when it started as a one-man operation in the old town of Rapperswil, Switzerland. Around 30 years later, founder Albert Gebert developed a wooden cistern lined with lead, marking an early milestone in the company’s spirit of innovation.

Geberit’s growth accelerated with groundbreaking advancements, including the introduction of the first plastic cistern in 1952 and the concealed cistern in 1964—innovations that reshaped modern bathroom design and functionality.

What began as a modest family business has since evolved into the European market leader in sanitary products. With a continued focus on innovation, quality, and reliability, Geberit’s solutions for sanitary technology and bathroom systems consistently set new standards—then, now, and into the future.
